The 99 Hanover Street menus have been out for a wee while now, but the Fringe Programme has been gobbling up all my time – Anyway, better late than never here’s a few pictures of it in situ along with the labels for the food menu that never was… More after the break
99’s mantra Is Music, Liquor, Fun and Food. I’ve tried to communicate this through the records. Its interesting watching people interact with them. The vinyl generation brace the opposite edges between cupped palms, while the MP3 kids just rub their fingers all over them…
The menus themselves are laser printed on vinyl substrate and then bonded to old 12″ records (Fear not – only Now that’s what I call music volumes 1-30 were sacrificed).
Nick Milligan at Eastern Exhibition & Display did some prototypes for us, experimenting with bubble jet direct to the records amongst others. The Vinyl won due to its bullet-proof, waterproof and easy-to-clean properties.
The Menu was paid for by Red Bull, Jagermeister and Diageo
Cam Mason and Stephen Wilson at 99 provided the drinks list and a steady source of constructive criticism. All in all a successful project – a hit with the punters and the client!

They look great! When did they arrive? I didn’t realise they’d be on such big vinyls… all the cooler if you ask me!
